Grade 8 Survey

Don't forget to fill out the Grade 8 survey.  It can be accessed through your school email.  Ask a classmate who was on today's meet to help if you have difficulty.

Work going forward

Language

• Speech:  be ready to present on Janurary 18th online
• Novel study:  this week's novel study should be submitted online (by photo) by Monday.  Next week's novel study is due Thursday and is to be done on Google Docs and shared with me.

Geography

• Chapter 11 Quiz will be done online at 10am on Wednesday, January 13th.

Math

• Will be assigned on a day-to-day basis

Science

• If necessary we'll do a lab experiment together as a class.  I'm waiting to see how long this latest lockdown lasts before deciding.

CCI Virtual Info Night

 Grade 8 to 9 Virtual Information Night

Wednesday, January 6, 2021

6:00 – 7:30 p.m. 

 

On January 6, 2021 Collingwood Collegiate Institute will be hosting a Virtual Information Night.  This will be an opportunity for all incoming Grade 8 students and their families to learn about all the fantastic programs offered at CCI and to ask questions about specific courses and pathways. 

Please join us at 6:00 for a video presentation, followed by drop in Q&A sessions with teachers in each subject department.   

Agenda: 

6:00 – 7:00:         Principal’s Welcome, Guidance Video, CCI Slideshow – these can be viewed at your own leisure 

7:00 – 7:30:         Live drop in Q&A sessions in Google Meets- this is an opportunity to ask any questions you may have related to high school i.e. courses, pathways, extra-curriculars, etc.

Tuesday's Meet

A reminder that tomorrow's 'Meet' will begin a 10am.  Please be ready to discuss your novel study answers, as well as the Math homework.

Speeches

Mr. Durance and I have chosen a due date of January 18th for our in-class presentations.  An Intermediate 'Speak-off' will take place later in the week.

Novel Study

All novel study assignments are posted for next week.  Please print off or take note of the questions and read the assigned chapter(s) with the questions in mind.  Be prepared to discuss the questions on Monday.  Due date will be discussed.

Meet on Monday!

Our first Google Meet is scheduled for Monday at 9am.  Please have pencil and math notebook ready!  Instructions will be posted in Math in our Google Classroom.

Novel Study

Next week's novel study will be posted tomorrow (Friday) as usual.  Students should have read the assigned chapters by the time of our meet on Monday and be ready to discuss the questions.

Grade 9 Night

Don't forget that the virtual "Picture Yourself in Grade 9" presentation will take place on Wednesday, January 6 at 6pm.  It'll be easy to overlook, especially if we go to remote learning after Christmas.
